Important constituent molecules of Dan Shen Root are the uniqeu tannins (tanshinone IIA, cryptotanshinone, miltiradiene) as well as salvianolic acids (danshensu, salvianolic acid B).

Dan Shen Root is an important Chinese herb going back to the Han Dynasty where it appears in Shennong’s Classic of Materia Medica

There is a significant body of published scientific research for Salvia Miliorrhiza available on the NIH database.

Nokomis extracts are often more potent than other extracts made with industrially-farmed Dan Shen. Our dried Dan Shen extract is also more potent than fresh root extracts since fresh roots are about 70% water. Higher potency means more value and more benefit with each dropperful.
