Pleurisy Root was important for the Shakers of our region who were a premier manufacturer of plant-based extracts in the 1800s. Today the Shakers are remembered for their elegant furniture; however, in the 1800s they were best-known for their herbal preparations. Much of the scientific research on Asclepias Tuberosa has been limited to pregnane glycosides.
