Huang Hua Ren has a long history of use in the Pacific, South Asia and Africa. It is increasingly popular in North America where it is usually referred to by its scientific name, Sida Acuta.

Sida Acuta is featured in one of our favorite herbalist books, “The Herbal Medic: A Green Beret’s Guide to Emergency Medical Preparedness and Natural First Aid” by Sam Coffman.

Huang Hua Ren is a superfood, and animals like deer and sheep love it. Our first trial of this crop disappeared in a single night of deer feasting––a lesson we learned the hard way that first year was to plant Huang Hua Ren inside a deer fence. There is also a fun study by Barge and Pardeshi (2018) showing that silk worm filament length and strength increased when they were given Sida Acuta Extract as a supplement in their food.
