No Proprietary Blends, No Secrets
All active ingredients in our products are precisely quantified and transparently labeled. None of our products are ambiguously labeled “Proprietary Blends,” which conceal how much of the various ingredients are actually being used to make the extract.
Small Batch Quality
Consistently extracting a high-quality product from the best organic ingredients is time-consuming and delicate. Certain processes cannot be replicated in big steel tanks, and the precision required for these extracts is one of them.
At our FDA-registered extract facility, we produce small batches in lab-grade glass vats because it gives us the precision and control that we need to produce an outstanding product every time.

The Problem with Heat and Pressure Processing
The myriad of powdered extracts, gelcaps or concentrates on the market are often heated or put through pressurized and heated processing— what is called “supercritical” processing.
Liquid Extracts Keep Plant Molecules Suspended
In plant extracts —like with coffee or tea— the soluble molecules of the plant are suspended in a liquid. It takes quality ingredients to make quality extracts, and even then the process still requires time and precision.
Lost Compounds, Lost Benefits
Heat and pressure strip away many compounds, targeting only a specific one like the withanolides in Ashwagandha. As a result, these products often lose valuable therapeutic molecules and synergists inhering in the plant.
Why Cold-Pressed Matters
Researchers have labeled the cumulative benefit from a broad range of molecules in the plant “the entourage effect” (1). Studies have shown that isolating one popular molecule from the plant can be less effective than a whole-plant extract containing a broad range of molecules (2).

Potency Over
Convenience
Even though other products like pills and powders might be more convenient (and less bitter), they do not always have the same effect as the most potent cold-pressed liquid extracts.
Our Process Preserves More
Nokomis liquid extracts are the result of extensive research and experimentation. They are cold-pressed and never heated, retaining the broad range of valuable nutritional and therapeutic compounds which are often lost in other processing methods.
Potency Requires Proper Dosage
Herbal supplements need to be of a high quality and taken at sufficient quantity for the body to absorb their nutrients. Chinese herbal traditions often recommend as much as 1 to 3 grams per day of various herbs. Other products on the market that list a dozen or so ingredients will often not provide a sufficient amount of any ingredient. Remember that each plant produces a wide range of molecules and synergists.
Formulas Designed for Flexibility
We believe in making simple but potent mixed formulas typically featuring 2-4 complementary herbs. Our mixed formulas are designed for convenience, but regimens are highly customizable. People who want an extra boost can add a single extract to take with their core mixed formula, and those who desire only one or two ingredients can order them as single-plant extracts.
